The program provides information, referral and support to individuals and families who are new to this area, migrants, cultural groups and people from non-English speaking countries.

- An employer of skilled migrants.

Community Action for a Multicultural Society (CAMS)
Community Action for a Multicultural Society (CAMS), is a network of multicultural community workers undertaking systemic and group advocacy, and community capacity-building activities for the benefit of Queenslanders from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and to strengthen multiculturalism across the state. The network consists of 20 multicultural, advocacy and community workers across the state, many of whom are regional and/ or part-time positions. Workers include local regional workers; statewide ethnic specific workers for three communities - African, Pacific Islander and South Sea Islanders; a grants access officer and several statewide systemic advocacy workers. CAMS workers are based in community organisations, peaks and one Council. Regional areas where CAMS workers are located include Logan, Bundaberg, Mackay, Gold Coast, Caboolture, Nambour, Hervey Bay, Cairns, Toowoomba and Townsville.

Regular Multicultural Activities
World Cafe English Conversation Group
If you are interested to improve and practice your English Conversation, you should come along. It is a small and friendly groupthat meet to discuss topics such as driving in Queensland, things to see and do around Mackay, health care, family and children etc. We also have cooking and craft demonstrations regularly. Please be aware that this is not an English class.
Venue: The Shed, George Street Neighbourhood Centre
When: Every Tuesday, 10:30 am to 12:00 pm
What to bring: Food to share

Multicultural Playgroup
The group welcomes families from all over the world. Playgroups help children and families:
- Develop and learn through play.
- Have fun with educational activities.
- Further develop a child's physical abilities and social skills.
- Meet new people, share experiences and ideas
Venue: Shakespeare Child and Family Centre
When: Friday, 9:3 0am to 11:30 am
What to bring: Hat, sunscreen, water and food for you and your children.
