Early Years Health and Wellbeing

Shakespeare Child and Family Centre has a dedicated Early Years Health and Wellbeing Team consisting of a Facilitator and a Liaison Officer.  The Facilitator oversees the program, while the Liaison Officer provides support for parents within the school environment.

The Early Years Health and Wellbeing program runs in four schools in the Mackay region - Sarina State School, Mackay Central State School, Mackay West State School and Victoria Park State School.  The team itself is based at the Shakespeare Child and Family Centre.

What do we do?

The team provides services that may include but is not limited to:

  • Linking families with local organisations that provide support in relation to the health and general wellbeing of children and their families.
  • Providing parenting support.
  • Responding to parents needs by providing workshops on topic such as: health and nutrition, child safety, behavior management and enhancing positive parenting experiences.
  • Professional development for teachers and those working with children in the Early Years.

Who can access us?

Anyone who is caring for children between the age of zero and eight.
