These are just a few of the reasons. If you are unsure, telephone the Coordinator and you will either be assisted or pointed in the right direction. Who Funds the Program? This program is funded by the Queensland Department of Communities and the Commonweath Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs. Who Are the Volunteers? The volunteers are people from our community who care about families and children. To insure the highest safety for our clients a training program, referee checks and clearance by the Queensland Government, Commission for Children and Young People are all compulsory prior to commencing in their volunteer role for the program. |
What Will the Volunteer Do?The volunteer will visit on a weekly basis, lend a listening ear and discuss different ways of managing difficult issues and work with you to help you achieve your personal goals. The volunteer will be a friend to you and your children and will endeavour to assist you in practical ways. However, it is important to note that the volunteer is not an unpaid housekeeper or babysitter. This service is available to work through issue areas with you, not for you. At no time will a volunteer be with children unless the parent/guardian is also present.
