Mackay Toy Library
The Mackay Toy Library is a non-profit organization and membership is open to any individual who wishes to borrow toys for children in their care. This includes parents, grandparents, day care mothers and caregivers. The Mackay Toy Library has provided a toy borrowing service to the Mackay community since 1989.
The Mackay Toy Library is managed by a committee elected annually, and staffed by volunteer members whose time is offered on a voluntary basis. There are no paid workers. The Mackay Toy Library does not receive any regular funding from any government, and aside from one-off grants, derives all of its income from membership related fees and its own fundraising activities.

The Mackay Toy Library providing educational stimulation and play for children from birth to early childhood. Joining the Toy Library is all about children having access to a wide variety of toys and learning tools without having the associated cost of buying them.

A membership booklet and a Toy Library bag is given to every new member upon borrowing. The booklet explains the requirement of handling the borrowed items and cleaning of same prior to returning them to the Library.
How it works
1. Pay your annual membership fee:
- $40.00 for one child
- $60.00 for two or more children
- $25.00 for grandparents
- $32.00 for concession card holders
2. Choose your toys. 3 items per child and 2 parent resources
3. Pay $3 per visit, enabling you to borrow all items for up to two weeks.
Want to borrow toys for free?
The Mackay Toy Library relies on the support from its members. The borrowing levy is waived when a member volunteers periodically (approximately every 6 weeks).
Opening hours
9:30 am to 11:30 am every Saturday and alternate Wednesdays

The Mackay Toy Library operates through the George Street Neighbourhood Centre at 4 George Street, South Mackay.
