The service manages a quota of privately owned properties under head leasing arrangements and provides subsidised rent to households on the public housing list in locations throughout the Mackay/Whitsunday region. It negotiates a weekly rental with owners comparable to current rent offered by real estates. Rents are guaranteed for twelve months along with damages/repairs to properties (government pays the difference between rent paid to owners and rent paid by tenants).
